Cryptocoryne x timahensis
Cryptocoryne xTimahensis is a very unusual and interesting crypt. Found only in a small pool in Bukit Timah national park in Singapore, its widely accepted to be a hybrid between C. nurii and C. cordata. You can definitely see traits of both those plants in the spate. Additionally, its also one of the few plants that seem to do well in aquarium culture, though I do not have first hand experience with that aspect of its culture. Its got light green leaves, with a wonderful red/brown pattern on them. I’ve acquired a few specimens from various sources over the last two years, but only recently has it started growing well for me. A few weeks ago it started sending up a couple of spathes. Here are pictures from the first one that opened up.
I’ve been able to propagate this plant out somewhat – I hope we can spread this wonderful crypt around the hobby.
