Yellowing leaves

October 9th, 2008

Some observations over the last few days…

1) Root growth has increased dramatically.
2) Quite a few plants are exhibiting a disturbing behavior – older leaves are yellowing and dying off. Since the plants are growing at a fairly good clip, I can only assume that maybe there is now a nutrient deficiency. Yesterday, I sprayed a very very dilute mixture of ‘Miracid’ on most of my plants and to specific pots added some root tabs. ADA Iron Bottom and in some cases Seachem Flourish tabs. Hopefully I didn’t over do it.

I have similar problem with yellow leafs too. Mine is usually yellow leaves with green veins. I also suspect nutritional deficiency is the cause. My guess is potasium and will try potasium rich fertiliser soon.

Do you mean you spray maracid on the leafs? Care to share the concentration you use?

Yellowing leaves with green veins – you remind me of the longicauda issue I had early this year.
That problem went away after I did several water changes to remove excess nutrients. I beleive I documented that on this blog too.
I was thinking it was potassium too – and you still may be right.

Yes, I’m using a hand held spray bottle with a weak concentration of Miracid. I’m using 1/4tsp of Miracid to 1 gallon of water – which is a quarter of the reccomended dosage as per the packaging.
